A Capella Singing Competition in NC
Sangeet Saagar is the first ever South Asian a cappella competition in the Southeastern United States.
A Capella is a form of vocal performance where no accompanying music or instruments are used. The singers themselves use their voices to recreate all the elements of the song, from the lyrics and musical accompaniment to the rhythms. It is a very unique musical style and very enjoyable to listen to.
Featuring a lineup of 6 college a cappella groups from across the United States, Sangeet Saagar will be an entertaining evening for all. As a South Asian A cappella performance, the teams will be mixing contemporary and classic Bollywood songs with popular American hits to create a fantastic performance.
Our program is a charity competition benefiting two different charities: Drive for Education, a local charity based in the Triangle that seeks to raise money for Wake and Durham county schools, and Ekal Vidyalaya, a service organization dedicated to education and village development in rural India.
