Chai & Just Chat: “World in Pieces or World at Peace”

Chai & Just Chat: “World in Pieces or World at Peace: Women as Peace Drivers”
by Nazeera Dawood.
The proposed Chai & Just Chat panel of experts will examine the different functions essential to the construction of peace and creating a culture of nonviolence. What are the essentials to countering extreme narratives and promote conflict prevention through inclusive dialogue? What creates peace?    The panel will foster dialogues on the importance of education, ethics, global and religious movements focused on people to people relationships and creating nonviolent social change in societies.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s after his trip to India, “In a real sense, Mahatma Gandhi embodied in his life certain universal principles that are inherent in the moral structure of the universe, and these principles are as inescapable as the law of gravitation.”
2019 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. “If nonviolence is the law of our being, the future is with woman. Who can make a more effective appeal to the heart than woman?” says Gandhiji.

Chai & just Chat will discuss the role and power of women at all decision making levels and shifting dialogues to sustain peace in challenging contexts. This Chai & just Chat is designed to encourage debate on ways to create peace through informal, apolitical and grassroots mechanisms; People Power.

The power of public dialogue between representatives from field-level, national & international stakeholders, academia, peace operation leaders & think tanks will provide fact-based, inclusive, balanced, independent information essential to the strengthening of peace & democracy along with the right to freedom of expression and information.

What’s in it for you:
After the Chai & Just Chat, it is anticipated that we will have answers to the following questions.
What does it take to create good sustainable peace?
How do we break down silos and adopt an engaging holistic approach to gain a complete picture?
Does gender equality and security in family, community and society play a key role in sustaining peace?
What measures should be a part of our global culture? Are women drivers of positive peace?

Findings, conclusions and action plans resulting from our Chai & Just Chat will help promote mutual understanding and universally shared values for the pursuit of peace.
