As the biggest English speaking comedian in India, Vir is taking his authentic point-of-view worldwide and is quickly becoming a global phenomenon with his unique and original perspective. Vir has cemented himself as one of India’s top stand-ups, actors, writers, musicians, and festival producers. He climbed the ranks of the Bollywood elite in various films such as BadMaash Company, Delhi Belly, and Revolver Rani. Through his various tours, including The History of India and Battle of Das Sexes, he has sold over half a million tickets as a stand up and is winning over comedy fans around the world. He has made record-setting premiere appearances across the US, and he recently concluded a two-week run at London’s prestigious Soho Theatre. He was interviewed by Lois Reitzes on WABE, and he sounds so nice! "Born in India, Das attended Harvard University for method acting and has had many serious roles in Bollywood films. But he’s also a comedian, performing in a comedy rock band called Alien Chutney and doing standup all over the world. He also has his own comedy consultant company and produces the largest comedy festival in India" and now his "performances in the United State coincide with a barrier-breaking endeavor. He will be the first Indian-born comedian to have a Netflix special."

During the interview he explained that Bollywood has a huge responsibility: many, many poor families in India go to a movie on the weekend, and Bollywood is there to make their lives happier and get them through the week.

On the heels of sold out performances across the world, accomplished Indian actor, stand-up comedian, musician and writer, Vir Das, will be appearing at the Punchline Comedy Club as part of his Boarding Das World Tour.

Das’ tour is in support of his upcoming one-hour comedy special that will be released by Netflix

April 25. The special, titled “Abroad Understanding,” was shot in both New Delhi and New York, and will cement him as the first ever comedian from India to premiere a special on the streaming service. Following his American tour, Das will embark on a global stand-up tour preforming on six continents and in 20 countries- Canada, Australia, Switzerland, UK, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Belgium, Nigeria and France among others.

Das has garnered attention across film, television and stand-up as the biggest English speaking comedian in India and has proven himself to be one of the country’s top entertainers. Born and raised in India and educated in the US, Das transforms the western image of the typical Kwik-E-Mart humor into a show that is raw, edgy, intelligent and relevant. Das’ performance is a marriage between theater and comedy, captivating audiences with his fast-paced high-energy delivery and clever wit.
