Deeksha School of Performing Arts‎: Savitha Sastry Bharatnatyam Production, Chains: Love Stories of Shadows

Deeksha School of Performing Arts‎ presents
Savitha Sastry Bharatnatyam Production - Chains: Love Stories of Shadows

'Chains: Love Stories of Shadows' is Savitha Sastry's latest production that rips apart the masks people wear through our lives, exposing and exploring the real freedom of choice that our society accords to us. Chains takes a long hard look at a woman and her life. Is there room in a woman's life to do what she wants, or is her life a compromise of the expectations of her family and the society she lives in? Times have evolved, the parameters broadened, but there still exists a fence. Chains explores the dividing line between free will and compromise.

Times of India:
'... has merged contemporary content with the centuries old dance form to create a unique niche.'
Deccan Chronicle:
'What sets Savitha apart from her contemporaries is the fact that she doesn't mind breaking away from the traditional linear form of Bharathanatyam'

Please note: this is not a performance by Deeksha School. We are excited to host Savitha and Srikanth and showcase her renaissance production to promote the dance form and inspire everyone to dance.
Proceeds from this event will go to Baal Dan - specifically towards work going on in Nepal for the underprivileged children.

If you thought Bharatnatyam was just about Shabdam, Varnam, Padam, and Jatiswaram - think again. For the first time ever in Atlanta (on July 11), we are proud to present a completely riveting, awe-inspiring Bharatnatyam production by the renaissance Bharatnatyam Artist - Savitha Sastry to contemporary music created by Rajkumar Bharathi (grandson of Subramanya Bharathi). Savitha will prove to all of you that Bharatnatyam is Universal. And it need not have a spiritual or devotional connection. It can be contemporary and does not always require Carnatic music. And that a production does not have to be in the praise of a deity, but can also praise the lives of the everyday women. If you love dance, admire creativity and have the passion to pursue any danceform, you can not miss this show. Audiences worldwide have been captivated by Savitha for 75 minutes in Chains - her production. And it's your turn this time!
