You are invited to the launch of the Indian American Council (IAC) for Atlanta Community Food Bank, scheduled on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti -- October 2nd, 2019!
You will be pleased to learn that the Indian American community led by IAC, a 100% volunteer movement, has (in less than 2 years) enabled close to 7 million meals for the hungry served by food banks in North Texas, Houston and New York City! People have contributed in their own ways through donation of time, food, and money. "Hunger Mitao" (meaning Wipeout Hunger) is fast becoming a household name in these communities.
With over 750,000 people in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia struggling to put food on the table, this 100% volunteer driven movement is now being extended to Atlanta. Recently we conducted a Hunger Awareness session at the Biryani Pot in Atlanta. It was well attended by Indian American community members who learned about the alarming hunger issue in greater Atlanta and in the spirit of ‘give where you live’ pledged to join in the fight against hunger.
At the October 2nd launch, you will hear directly from the senior executives of the Atlanta Community Food Bank while learning about the IAC model and the monetary and/or non-monetary ways through which every Indian American can join in this fight against hunger!
