The Medicine Circle is a community offering for anyone who is in need of healing, or anyone who knows someone who is in need of healing. This is weekly session of chanting two specific mantras from the Buddha Dharma tradition that are designed to help accelerate the natural healing process by connecting to the energy vibrations of the higher consciousness (Buddha Nature) that is an integral part of each one of us.

The session begins with invocations to set the sacred space, and a prāṇayāma (breathing exercise) to balance the major energy channels in the body.

oṁ tāre tuttāre ture mam'āyuḥ puṇya jñāna puṣṭiṁ kuru svāhā

The first chant will be the White Tārā Mantra. Tārā is the personification of Divine Mother in the Buddha Dharma tradition, who appears through a series of manifestations, each of which has a different connection to spiritual practice. One of White Tārā's most important functions is the increase in life energy, which is usually translated with the word "longevity". According to her mantra, the purpose of the increase in life is to give the spiritual seeker more time to practice and expand consciousness towards liberation. As such, this has become one of the most well-known healing mantras in Buddhism.

oṁ bhaiṣajye bhaiṣajye mahā bhaiṣajya samudgate svāhā

The second chant will be the Bhaiṣajyaguru (Medicine Buddha) Mantra. The Medicine Buddha is the highest possible model of a healer. Among the 12 vows Bhaiṣajyaguru is said to have taken is that of curing just by the invocation of his name or the thought of Him. He was known as the dispenser of spiritual medicine that could cure spiritual, psychological, and physical disease. This Buddha is not connected to simply for healing powers alone; he is the form of the Buddha-nature that we aspire to realize in ourselves. Through the practice of meditation on the Medicine Buddha, one can generate enormous healing power for self and for the healing of others.

The session concludes with a short, silent meditation, and closing mantras.
