2017 (4th annual) Southern Regional Nonpartisan Candidate Training

Join Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta for our Annual Southern Regional Candidate Training. This Non-partisan training is designed to provide potential candidates with the information and practical tools needed to run for elected office and Win!
Since 2013, our candidate training has brought together diverse participants who are interested in running for elected office at the state, county, and local level. In our very first year one of our participants won a hotly contested run-off race, making him the first ever Asian American Superior Court Judge in Georgia. Since then, we have trained two Georgia house of representatives and other future leaders through our training.
2016 was a huge election year that affected every facet of our community. Now is the time to get involved! More than the Presidential, U.S. Senate and House races, in 2017, there are municipal elections for various City Council and Mayoral seats that impact your daily lives. Unfortunately, not enough of those leaders are people of color. Let's reach out to our friends and neighbors and encourage them to lead!
The training is open to individuals who are interested in running in the following Southern states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
This year's training is also open to Asian and Pacific Islander Youth (17-24) who are interested in leadership development, civic engagement, and learning about politics and the electoral process.
The Training will start on Saturday, March 18th at 8:30 am and concludes on Sunday, March 19th at 12:00 pm.
The space is limited and will be on a rolling basis.
