Pandit Rajan Misra & Pandit Sajan Misra Concert
The inimitable duo Pandits Rajan and Sajan Misra are leading classical vocalists of the North Indian khyal style, who were awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2007. Born into a 300-year-old lineage of musicians, the brothers belong to the Banaras Gharana, and they began their studies at a young age. Their mellifluous voices combine with masterly command of ancient and highly complex techniques to bring a rare sensitivity to their art. “When we sing, we are one soul singing, even though we are in two bodies,” the brothers have said.
The performance aims to focus on aspects of Khyal style of Hindustani vocal, progression & development of Aalap-kari, Aada-kari and Taranas from a rare collection.
