SEVA SATURDAY will be on the 1st Saturday in June!
Also on Saturday, June 2nd…
The Chandi will be read in Sanskrit (led by Rita Mathew) in the Chapel from 10-10:30am, followed by a reading in English (led by Br. Shankara) from 10:30-11am. This is a group activity... no experience is required, all are welcome!
Note: The Chandi Hymns are read in Sanskrit every first Saturday from 10-11am. The Chandi Hymns are read in English (usually from 10-10:30am) every Seva Saturday which is normally the 2nd Saturday, except for such cases as June when Seva Saturday is on the 1st Saturday, thus the combining of the two readings.

Talk: “Seeing the Living Photos of Sri Ramakrishna”
with Swami Harinamanandaji
11am to 12:30 pm in the Chapel
Potluck Lunch immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
There are three actual photographs of Sri Ramakrishna, when he was alive. During 1800, there was no camera phones to snap pictures with. It used to take quite a lot of effort with film and lighting and setup to take a photograph. Only one of the three photos of Thakur were studio pictures. The other two show him in samadhi and standing up (supported) trance. This talk by Swami Harinamananda beautifully describes the story behind these photographs and their spiritual meaning.
Swami Harinamananda-ji is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order and currently serves as the resident minister of the Vedanta Society of Southern California at the San Diego monastery.

Weekend Retreat Workshop: The Enneagram
with Jill Ulrici
Note: The book The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Hudson and Richard Russo is recommended, not required.
The Enneagram is a system of identifying and understanding basic personality types. But more than that, it is a tool for spiritual growth. The purpose of this study is described well in a quote from the book The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Richard Riso and Don Hudson as follows: "The aim of the Work is to stop the automatic reactions of the personality by bringing awareness to it. Only by bringing insight and clarity to the mechanisms of the personality can we awaken... The more we see the mechanical reactions of our personality, the less identified with them we become and the more freedom we have."
The Enneagram is is a deep and broad subject. During this workshop we will cover a brief overview of the nine types. You are welcome to attend if you are learning about if for the first time or have studied it for years, if you know your type or don't. If you would like to take a test to determine your type there are many available on the internet or in books. One that I would recommend that is simple and free can be found at 9types.com ( select the "test" option).
Lunch: Your Center will provide tea, coffee and snacks but please bring your own lunch for the noon break on Saturday.
Cost: There is no charge for the workshop, but we encourage you to make a free-will donation if you are able.
RSVP: Please RSVP as soon as possible so that we'll know how many folks we need to plan for. CLICK HERE TO RSVP for one or or both days. Thank you!

If you follow any of the four yogas, you will quickly see how each method blends into the others. Karma is not only preparation for bhakti and jnana, but also essential to the paths of devotion and knowledge. This talk explores the principle of action in the cosmos, character development, and as a means for liberation in everyday life and victory over death.
Patrick Horn is an initiated disciple of Swami Swahananda and interfaith actor. He also contributes to American Vedantist. He lived with monastics in Hollywood, Trabuco Canyon, and San Francisco.

Talk: “Bhakti According to Sri Krishna” (Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12)
with Br. Dhruva
Gita Chapter 12 – Bhakti Yoga – wherein Krishna relates ten reasons why the path of Bhakti is easier than the path of Knowledge. He then offers us the opportunity to sign the “Krishna Contract” wherein we agree to select just one of four easy tasks for Him, in return he promises to perform one amazing feat for us. Finally Krishna formulates his definition of Heaven and tells us dozens of ways to get there before we die. Holy Mother will make a brief appearance to relate the one thing she loves most in a Bhakta.
