The Government of India and FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) are partnering once again to host the ?Pravasi Bharatiya Divas'. It will be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from January 9th to 11th, 2004. GIACC, IACA and IPN jointly held a dinner meeting to discuss the upcoming event. Mr. S. P. Reddy, the president of GIACC, welcomed the guest for the evening, Mr. Vivek Bharati, who is an advisor to the FICCI in India.
Bharati outlined the objectives and highlighted the plans for the event in New Delhi. He mentioned that 2000 to 3000 NRIs and PIOs from over 70 countries across the world were expected to attend. Finally, he requested the audience to spread the word with the intention of creating awareness of the event. For more information, please visit www.indiaday.org.
The first ?Pravasi Bharatiya Divas', held in New Delhi earlier this year, was a great success. It attracted eminent Indians from all over the world, including Nobel laureates, business leaders, scientists and innovators, academicians and political leaders. Prime Minister Vajpayee announced that his government would be offering dual citizenship to NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) and PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) living in eight countries.
