Medical Consultations, Including Alternative Therapies, Offered at Wellness Fair

The Art of Living Wellness Fair hosted by the Art of Living Foundation of Atlanta and co-sponsored by Atlanta Dunia and Global Mall took place on March 13th at the Global Mall in Norcross, Georgia.

Among the free services provided to the over 100 visitors were: chiropractic screenings and acupressure by Drs. Richard Schuyler, Avery and Richard Lopez; Homeopathic consultations by Dr. Madhavi Kasam; Shiatsu and reflexotherapy by Dr. Waheeda Khan; general medical consultations and diabetes and anemia screening by Dr. Khadeeja; pediatric consultations by Dr. Purna and herbology consultations by Ms. Anisa. Art of Living teachers conducted yoga sessions throughout the day.

Teacher Abhay Joshi gave a lecture on "Healing with Consciousness" followed by a powerful, guided meditation. Mr. Joshi explained how breathing techniques such as the Sudarshan Kriya? can release stress and toxins at the physical, mental and emotional level, promoting better health. The founder of the organization, His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar notes, "The breath is the link between the body, mind and spirit. When the mind is free of fear, guilt and anger, and is more centered, then it can heal the system of any ailment. The consciousness that creates the body also has the power to heal. Pure consciousness is pure love and love is the highest power on earth." Numerous research studies have been conducted to study the positive effect of Sudarshan Kriya on various diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, anemia, cancer & chronic depression.

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be visiting Atlanta again on May 24-26, 2005 for public lectures. When he visited Atlanta in 2002, he received the Phoenix Award from the City of Atlanta, and April 29 was declared as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Day in honor of his humanitarian works.
