Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary celebrated in Augusta
The Indian community of greater Augusta celebrated the 150th anniversary of the great Indian poet, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on May 15, 2010 at the local Hindu Temple Society (HTS) Cultural Center. The program was attended by about 200 people from the Indian-American community and included music, dance and drama performances by local talents based on the poet's compositions. The musical dance recital “Ritu Rango” (celebration of the seasons) was performed by the children, and the famous drama “Rakta Karabi” (Red Oleander) was staged by adults. Rare pictures of the poet with Einstein, Gandhi and others were displayed.
