Three-day workshop by Indian mystic attracts 900 Americans from around the US
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev teaches Inner Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia, May 2014.
Nearly 900 people from California to New Jersey to America’s heartland and throughout the Southeast flocked to the Georgia International Convention Center near Atlanta on the weekend of May 16-19 to attend the final time Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev would teach “Inner Engineering” in an open workshop in the United States. Approximately half the attendees were from the Indian community. A full 1/3 of the attendees (Indian, white, African-American; Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist) were from Atlanta, another 200 were from around the Southeast, and the rest were from nine other states.
Sadhguru is the world renowned Indian mystic and humanitarian who has presented Inner Engineering for personal well-being and enlightenment at the World Economic Forum, before the House of Lords in the United Kingdom, the United Nations Millennium Peace Summit, and other thought leader forums.
Inner Engineering is a fusion of mental, physical, and psychological wellness methods that combine to offer participants concrete tools and practices they can easily incorporate into their daily lives to achieve significant health improvements. The 26-hour, 3-day workshop attracted people from a diversity of ethnic, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds, so Sadhguru’s lectures expanded upon teachings from a broad spectrum of religious and philosophical viewpoints.
“I am not a priest. I am not here to fix you,” said Sadhguru. “Inner Engineering is neither a religion, nor a philosophy, or dogma. It is a technology for wellbeing.” Sadhguru is often described as equally at ease with the time-honored science of yoga and with modern life. He belongs to no particular tradition, and his scientific methods for self-transformation have universal appeal.
Throughout the workshop, produced by the Isha Institute of Inner Sciences, Sadhguru instructed on specific yoga, breathing, and meditation exercises which have proven to provide major improvements in mental clarity, personal productivity, and stress reduction. The most recent research by Isha Institute has also shown that Sadhguru’s Inner Engineering techniques provide improvement in the management of chronic diseases like diabetes, fibromyalgia, asthma, depression, obesity, and more.
“One does not have to believe or disbelieve, just have to learn to use,” said Sadhguru. “Technology will produce results irrespective of who you are.”
