Priyanka, Shahid no longer together?

When Priyanka Chopra threw her birthday party on July 18, one person who was conspicuous by his absence was her rumoured beau Shahid Kapoor. The buzz is that the two are no longer together. Of course, it’s another matter that both never really acknowledged the relationship, only uttering the clichéd ‘good friends’ line. Friends of Priyanka say that Shahid was driving his fun-loving girlfriend crazy with his over-possessive ways. That sounds like the Salman-Katrina love story!

Interestingly, Priyanka has agreed to act in Shahid’s mother’s film. Says his mom Neelima Azim “ Both Priyanka and I share a very warm relationship, irrespective of all these rumours. Can’t two co-stars just be friends without being romantically involved?” Sure, they can, Ms Azim!

Hrithik has Susanne’s name tattooed on his wrist

Grapevine was recently abuzz with talk that Hrithik Roshan having a torrid affair with his Kites co-star Barbara Mori and that a shattered Susanne had walked out of the marriage. Of course, the couple denied it all and continued to make public appearances. But the gossip refused to die down. That’s apparently when Hrithik decided to take things in his hands, rather wrists! He waited for his wife to leave for London on a holiday with his sons, then called the tattoo artist to his home and had Susanne’s name tattooed on his right wrist. Hrithik sure has taken ‘pains’ to prove to his wife, and to the world, that all’s well in their marriage.

By the way, Hrithik is playing a wheelchair-bound paraplegic in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film titled Guzaarish. The film is said to be an intense love story with Hrithik and Aishwarya Rai all set to recreate the Jodhaa-Akbar magic.

John, Akshay are the newest buddies in town

The latest is that the flavours of the season, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have formed a mutual admiration society and are singing praises of each other. Refreshingly, both the actors are elated with the success of each other’s films --- Kambakkht Ishq and New York. Actually, Akki and John had worked together in the 2005 laugh riot Garam Masala, but had lost touch after that. “We are now great friends. He is not just my senior but also a very good man,” says John about Akshay, adding that Akki’s appreciation of New York and John’s work in it, really touched his heart. Touche!

Incidentally, the success of New York has made Katrina Kaif quite magnanimous. The pretty lady recently told a journalist that she was a big fan of Kareena Kapoor and that she enjoyed watching her in Kambakkht Ishq.

Aishwarya to play Maharani Gayatri Devi

When Maharani Gayatri Devi passed away recently, the world lost one of its most beautiful women. And now the buzz is that another beautiful woman is all set to portray the Maharani on celluloid. Yes, film-maker J.P. Dutta has reaffirmed his plans of making a biopic on Gayatri Devi’s royal life. Dutta says that the film, announced in 2005, didn’t take shape then but interestingly, the Maharani was keen that Aishwarya Rai play her role in reel life. “When I met the Maharani at her London home with a proposal to make a biopic on her illustrious life, she told me she would love to see Ash play the role. There was mutual admiration between Aishwarya and her.”

Dutta says that he is doing his best to revive the project now, which was stalled due to lack of finances. Ash as the Maharani surely would be a treat to watch.
