Bollywood loses its Janbaaz

Veteran actor-producer-director Feroz Khan passed away at his Bangalore farmhouse on April 27 after battling cancer for over a year. He was 69. Heavily influenced by Westerns and cowboy films, Feroz was often called Bollywood’s Clint Eastwood. A style icon for generations of actors, the charismatic actor set the standards for a debonair hero as against the soft, mushy hero. His early years were full of struggle but he got his due with Oonche Log, followed by Aarzoo. Later, Feroz acted in and directed many commercial hits like Dharmatma, Qurbani and Janbaaz. Said Amitabh Bachchan, “He was a warm-hearted and gracious friend and a flamboyant filmmaker.” He echoed the sentiments of many.

Stars come down to earth and vote

April 30 was D-Day for our celebrities of Tinseltown, and the reason was not even remotely connected with films. That was the day they all stepped out of the comfort of their air-conditioned homes and waited patiently in queue for their turn to vote, in the manner of common citizens, their designer glares being the only distinguishing feature. Shah Rukh Khan who was in South Africa for the IPL matches, made it a point to be in Mumbai on election day. Aamir Khan, who cut short his holiday in the United States with his children, said after casting his vote, “If you love your country, this is the day to show it.”

Amongst the others who exercised their franchise were Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, John Abraham, Celina Jaitley, Sonam Kapoor and Rahul Bose, to name just a few.

Marry me, says Gerard Butler to Priyanka

No one knows for sure whether Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are romantically involved, but one thing is certain: Hollywood hunk Gerard Butler sure is smitten with the attractive actress. Gerard, on his recent visit to India, was seen following Priyanka wherever she went—in Jaipur while she was shooting for What’s Your Raashee?, at Shah Rukh Khan’s farewell party that he threw for the Scottish actor, and also at Priyanka’s own bash which she hosted for her ‘good friend’.

Apparently, ‘Gerry’ kept asking Priyanka to marry him every now and then at the party. He even went down on his knee and popped the question on the dance floor. Priyanka, of course, laughed off his playful advances. The buzz is that Shahid, also present at the bash, didn’t take too kindly to all this!

A milkshake named Mallika!

Mallika Sherawat has done it again. The actress joins the exclusive league of celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, David Beckham and Paris Hilton, who have a milkshake named after them. Yes, Mallika, too, now has a delectable milkshake named after her. The Mallika Shake at one of Hollywood’s most fashionable eateries, Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood, features blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Mallika is at present in Hollywood to promote her new horror film Hisss that also features the intense Irrfan Khan.
