Mumbai terror attack takes way the color from Holi

Holi in Bollywood was subdued this time with the two top stars, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, staying away from the celebrations. Big B, who normally has a huge bash on the occasion, said that it did not seem right to celebrate the festival of colors this time, in view of the terror attack on Mumbai in November. Shah Rukh Khan was much of the same view. Also, the actor has his arm in a sling, after a shoulder surgery. Among the few who did not let the tragedy dampen the festive fervor were Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi. Said Javed: “Though we are all sad and angry, we will not allow the terrorists to decide for us what to celebrate and what not to celebrate.” Shilpa Shetty also hosted a grand Holi party at her house.

Last but not least, Anil Kapoor, flushed after the success of Slumdog Millionaire, had gala Holi celebrations at home with family, including daughter Sonam Kapoor.

Akshay dons the chef’s cap for Kylie Minogue

After Hrithik-Suzanne did all they could to make their foreign guest Barbara Mori feel at home in Mumbai, it was the turn of Akshay-Twinkle to play gracious hosts to Kylie Minogue. The Australian singer and actress was in Mumbai to make her debut in Akshay-starrer Blue, a thriller shot under water. Akki even donned the chef’s cap for the lavish lunch that Twinkle and he threw for Kylie and the crew of Blue in their Juhu beach house. Akshay admitted later that it was tough for him to match steps to her in their song together as she is a terrific dancer.

Incidentally, Kylie hit the headlines for another reason: the pop sensation refused to oblige none other than Shah Rukh Khan when he conveyed his desire to meet her. She obviously prefers Akki!

SRK, Salman come face to face at Amrita Arora’s sangeet bash

The warring Khans—Shah Rukh and Salman—finally came face to face at a sangeet party hosted by Malaika Arora Khan and hubby Arbaaz Khan for newlyweds Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladak. According to onlookers, the superstars arrived at the same time but refused to look at each other. The cold war, obviously, is still on. Apparently, an inebriated Sallu left the bash soon after SRK arrived, leaving behind a flummoxed Katrina.

Earlier at the church wedding, Amrita’s best friend, Kareena Kapoor looked resplendent in her peach gown, as the bridesmaid. It was a star-studded ceremony, all right, with the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance. Ayesha Takia, too, got married to her longtime boyfriend Farhan Azmi.

Freida Pinto to be the next Bond girl?

The buzz is that Freida Pinto, riding high on the phenomenal success of Slumdog Millionaire, has strong chances of bagging the coveted role of the next Bond girl opposite British star Daniel Craig. Freida had apparently caught the attention of the Bond team when they were casting for Quantum of Solace but she was too young at the time. “She has blossomed into a stunning young woman now and would look perfect on Daniel Craig’s arm,” said Barbara Broccoli, the executive producer of the new James Bond film.

Meanwhile, director Woody Allen has also signed up Freida for his new movie.
