Farooque Sheikh is no more

Bollywood was plunged in grief as news spread that veteran actor Farooque Sheikh died of a heart attack on December 27 while holidaying in Dubai with his wife and daughters. He was 65. The loved and respected actor was laid to rest in Mumbai. Close friend and co-star Deepti Naval was inconsolable.

Known as the blue-eyed boy of parallel cinema, Farooque endeared himself with natural and nuanced performances in films like Garam Hawa, Chashme Buddoor, Shatranj ke Khiladi, Katha, and Umrao Jaan. He was last seen in Club 60 and was earlier seen in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as Ranbir Kapoor’s father. He will also be seen in an upcoming movie, Youngistan.
