Krrish 3

Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Vivek Oberoi
Director: Rakesh Roshan
Music Directors: Rajesh Roshan, Salim-Sulaiman

The much-awaited Krrish 3, the third in the franchise that started with Koi Mil Gaya, is finally here, but hey, is it worth the wait? Fans of Hrithik Roshan would say a categorical “yes,” but for those who are not, Rakesh Roshan’s ambitious venture is nothing but a potpourri of set pieces and characters ripped off from all the superhero films that have come out of Hollywood in the last few years—Spiderman, Batman, X-Men, and The Avengers.

In Krrish 3, we see Krrish (Hrithik) pitted against a powerful army of mutants, controlled by the wheelchair-bound megalomaniac, Kaal (Vivek Oberoi), who wants to destroy the human race. The biggest letdown of Krrish 3 is the story (too convoluted) and the music. Rajesh Roshan’s score is terribly mediocre. Also, the movie is being touted as a family movie but some of the scenes are shockingly inappropriate for kids. On the plus side, the action scenes are superbly executed, never mind that they, too, are taken from foreign films. The special effects are also jaw-dropping, especially in the climactic scenes.

Hrithik delivers a committed performance as usual though he does go over the top at times. He is especially endearing as Krrish’s child-like father, Dr. Rohit Mehra, also played by Hrithik. While Priyanka has been reduced to eye candy who doesn’t have much to do except cry out for help, it is Kangana Ranaut as Kaaya, the catsuit-clad, form-shifting temptress, who is the scene-stealer here. Of course, she still has to work on her diction and dialogue delivery. Vivek Oberoi pitches in an intense act, though he could have been more menacing.
