MOVIE REVIEW

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif
Director: Zoya Akhtar
Music Directors: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Get ready for Bollywood’s first full blown contemporary road movie which takes you through picturesque Spain. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the adventure—an extended bachelor party actually—with loads
of thrills, emotional moments, camaraderie and romance.

Kabir (Abhay Deol) wants a bachelor party before he gets married to girlfriend Natasha (Kalki Koechlin)—but
it has to be special. So best buddies, Kabir, Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) embark on a road trip to Spain, nothing less. The trio meet many interesting people, including Laila (Katrina Kaif), the winsome diving instructor. But most importantly, what starts out as a fun trip turns out to be a coming-of-age odyssey for the threesome, wherein they learn to overcome their fears and shed the emotional baggage of the past. But all this is handled in a breezy style which brings a smile to your face. One flaw though: the first hour is low on drama and high on puerile pranks, leaving you a bit restless. It’s the second half that really hits you with its impact.

It’s hard to say who pitches in the finest act as all the three leads come up with stellar performances. Abhay Deol is charming, Farhan is full of beans—in fact, he’s quite the scene stealer on many occasions—and Hrithik’s transformation from an uptight stock-broker to a fun-loving vagabond is a class act. Pacey dialogues by Farhan Akhtar and brilliant cinematography by Carlos Catalan add to the overall appeal of the movie. The music is lovely, too.

So don’t miss Zindagi Na....  The director ensures that its message—live life to the fullest—is not lost on you.
