The talented Shiney Ahuja has bagged the role of an American, not Indian American, in a Hollywood film being made by Michel Shane. The film, titled Silver Cord, is being directed by James Ordonez.
Rensil D’Silva and Karan Johar have decided on the title Qurbaan for their film on global terrorism, which was earlier titled Jehaad. It stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Filmmaker Vivek Sharma has got the nod from Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakrabarty for his new film Buddham Sharanam Gachchami. Vivek had earlier directed Amitabh in Bhootnath.
Salman Rushdie is all set to make his big screen debut. He will reportedly play the role of Shri Ramram Seth -- a mystic who floats six inches above the ground and hangs pictures of Vishnu's avatars on his walls -- in the screenplay adaptation of his own Booker Prize-winning novel Midnight's Children. The film will be directed by Deepa Mehta. Though it is not known who will play the lead character of Saleem Sinai, the narrator of the film, Shabana Azmi will play Jamila Singer (Saleem's sister) while Nandita Das will play Padma Mangroli (Saleem's girlfriend and the listener).
