Good Sports: FOURTH NATIONAL TITLE FOR JHA

Kanak Jha of Milpitas, California, made history when he defeated Nikhil Kumar in the men’s singles final at the recent USA Table Tennis Championships in Las Vegas. He became the first male player to win four consecutive titles.

Jha, 19, also won the doubles title with his partner and fellow Olympian Yijun Feng. It was the first time he had won both titles.

Jha represented the United States at the Rio Olympics in 2016, but lost in the preliminary rounds. He hopes to go further at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

“Now I have a lot more experience under me,” he told NBC Bay Area. “I’ve seen a lot of what it takes to play at the highest level.”
