Good Sports: NBA INSIDER GREW UP LOVING THE GAME
Shams Charania is only 26, but has already achieved the dream he had while growing up in Chicago.
“My passion has always been two-fold,” he said in an interview with CBS Los Angeles. “I loved playing and also loved watching NBA hoops. Something about the NBA always captivated me, even more so than college or high school basketball.”
He has been writing about the NBA since high school and is now the lead NBA insider for The Athletic and Stadium. A prolific writer who often breaks news about the league, Charania appears regularly on national TV shows and has developed a huge following on Twitter.
His success at an early age is a testament to his work ethic and determination. He had no connections within the NBA and had to gradually develop them, one call at a time.
“When you reach out to people, no one asks you how old you are,” he said. “You have to show them your maturity and that you’re trustworthy.”
