RAJNI FACTS

Born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in Bangalore, he was a bus conductor before joining Madras Film Institute, where he was discovered by director K. Balachander and cast in the 1975 movie Katha Sangama.

Though his mother tongue is Marathi, he achieved stardom in Tamil movies. He's reputed to be the highest paid actor in India, earning Rs. 20 crore (200 million) for Sivaji: The Boss and Rs. 15 crore (150 million) for his previous movie, Chandramukhi.

His fans know him as Superstar Rajni and worship him like a god, pouring milk and beer on huge cutouts of him.

He has been married to his wife, Latha, for 26 years. They have two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya.
