April 2004

Aishwarya Rai's agents have managed to get some plum offers for her from the West. The list includes Singularity, Chaos and Mr. Surprises. She is now back in Bollywood, this time with a thriller titled Shabd. To be directed by Leena Bajaj, Shabd has young Zayed Khan playing Aishwarya's love interest. It's supposed to be a fascinating love story ?with a difference'.

Mani Rathnam's second Hindi film Yuva (also being made in Tamil) is scheduled for an April release. It features Ajay Devgan, Esha Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Vivek Oberoi and Kareena Kapoor.

The Khakee cops, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Tusshar Kapoor get together again for Sipahi, a Rajkumar Santoshi production being directed by Subhash, a director from the South.

After Teen Deewarein and Jhankar Beats, Juhi Chawla will now star in Sapna Hai, in which she is paired opposite Irfan Khan of The Warrior fame.

While offers were aplenty during her two-month stay in India, Madhuri Dixit has reportedly given her nod to just Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Hindi-Bengali bilingual. She is also keen to act in Somnath Sen's (Leela) Hindi film and in one film of Prakash Jha who had made Mrityudand.

Pop diva Tina Turner is all set to play Shakti in Merchant-Ivory's new film The Goddess. She recently toured India to do research for her role.
