– Life magazine features an article titled “Year of the Guru.” Much of the article follows the popularity in Europe and the U.S. of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Born Mahesh Prasad Varma, Maharishi developed the transcendental meditation technique. He was well known for being the spiritual advisor of the Beatles.
