Confidence without Clarity Is a Disaster

Confidence without Clarity Is a Disaster

Belief systems are not just about God, heaven or whatever else. Any numbers of aspects of life people are trying to handle with certain types of belief systems; they just believe. Depending upon their social, educational, family and other community backgrounds, accordingly they believe things. Once you believe things you get confidence.

Confidence without clarity is a disaster, a real disaster in life. It is just that sometimes confidence works—that’s the whole problem. Because of a very strong belief system backing up, there is confidence.

Right now this kind of confidence you will see in lots of people because they believe God is with them always. They get confidence. Once you get such confidence you will lose all the sense of every step that you take, even to turn back and see ‘has it been ok or not ok?’ You will go on blatantly without any sense about life because you have confidence and God is with you; very dangerous, isn’t it? People who believe that they are doing God's work have always been the most dangerous people on the planet simply because it gives you confidence without clarity.

Right now there’s a busy highway, you go there and you want to cross the street. You don't have to look right, left, or whatever. You just say ‘Jai Sriram’ and just run. You may make it. You know the quantum mechanics also says there is a one-in-a-billion chance you may even walk through the wall actually. Do you know? If you go on trying to walk into the wall, one-in-a-billion chance it is possible that you may actually walk through the wall. This is science; it’s 100% science. Quantum mechanics proves this and it is so. So you can always make it by chance or maybe a few compassionate drivers will stop. But every day if you try to cross the street like this we will have to scrape you off the highway in a few days time.

So what a human being needs is clarity not confidence. Let’s say this is the world, [pointing to the audience] all of you are the world, and here you are sitting. I want to walk through this world. If my vision is clear I can see where you are sitting; without touching any one of you I can just walk through this whole maze. If my vision is not clear but I have confidence, you know what I will do: I’ll walk over you. So because there is no clarity, people are trying to think that confidence is a good substitute for clarity. It cannot be; it just cannot be. All the major decisions in your life you can make like this: you just get yourself a 25 paisa coin; flip it, heads this way, tails that way. It works 50% of the time. If you are right only 50% of the time there are only two professions that you can keep—you can either be a weather man or an astrologer. These two things you can do; no other job you can keep on this planet. . .
