Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men of most racial/ ethnic groups in the United States. The proposed Chai & Just Chat diverse panel of healthcare experts will address the educate and empower men through culturally and ethically appropriate programs, activities and interventions that addresses men’s health within the context of physical, social and mental wellbeing.
Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of disability and decreases the quality of life for millions of people. The panel will foster dialogues on how habits, conditions or the nature of the determinants that could increase the chance of developing cardiovascular disease. The panelists will emphasize  the ways to practice healthy lifestyle habits.
Why are men suffering poorer health outcomes? Researchers have suggested that societal notions about male identity may be driving health disparities between the sexes. According to this theory, cultural beliefs about masculinity and manhood propel men to take actions that could harm their health and keep them from engaging in health-promoting behaviors and seeking medical care when necessary.
This Chai & just Chat is designed to encourage residents to identify resources and potential ways to combat challenges, community support and the importance of a heart healthy family.
The power of public dialogue between panelists from varied backgrounds— medical practitioners, researchers, public health executives, community leaders, policy makers, social workers, health educators, heart health advocates and testimonials from impacted families will heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

What’s in it for you:
After the Chai & Just Chat, it is anticipated that we will have answers to the following questions.
  • Foster health care education and services that encourage men of all ages to implement positive lifestyles for themselves and their families
  • Increase the physical and mental health of men so that they can live fuller and happier lives
  • Significantly reduce the cycles of addiction that afflict men
  • Encourage  organizations and community stakeholders’ men's health activities so that existing health networks can be utilized to increase the health and well-being of men and boys
  • Encourage women to expand on their traditional role as the family's health care leader and activist for enhancement of health care services
This event is for you if you have considered heart healthy family. Bring your curiosity, questions and comments to the discussion.

Findings, conclusions and action plans resulting from our Chai & Just Chat will help in keeping families informed, equipped and empowered to take action and to address the negative factors that impact their complete physical, social and mental well-being.
