On the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, please join us for the webinar on "Disaster risk reduction in the digital transformation age: Leveraging emerging technologies" on 13 October 2023, 14:00-16:00 CEST.
This webinar will explore the role of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the metaverse in reducing the risks associated with disasters, spanning all stages of disaster management including monitoring, disaster preparedness, emergency response and post-disaster recovery/relief. The panel will be moderated by Dr Muralee Thummarukudy (G20 Initiative Coordination Office Director, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification). The panel will be graced by the following key speakers:
The opening remarks will be provided by Seizo Onoe, Director, Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, ITU and Stefan Uhlenbrook, Director Hydrology, Water and Cryosphere, WMO.
The Keynote will be delivered by Hwirin Kim, Head of Hydrological and Water Resources Services Division, WMO.
Dr Bilel Jamoussi, Deputy Director, Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, ITU, will deliver the Closing Remarks for the event.
