Celebrating Diwali
Diwali stands as one of India’s biggest holidays, celebrated over a course of five days – it includes a festival marking new beginning, the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. The name “Diwali” is derived from a Sanskrit term “deepavali,” meaning “row of lights.”
During the festival, small clay lamps (deepa) are lit and placed in rows (avali) along houses and temples, and others are set adrift on streams and rivers. It’s a holiday that’s near & dear to the heart of Chai Pani — and millions of Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs all over the world.
