3/20/2020:
I hope you all read the ... message ... “Living Gratefully in the time of CORONA virus”. How are you doing with the children at home? Consider this Indian Summer Holidays for your children, but with one exception, that they must stay home and not get out. How you handle this in a sane manner is left to your ingenuity. I recommend you set up a written day time table for children to do their school work, breaks, exercise, Yoga, games etc. Have a family time and do Bhajans, play games, watch a good TV program and cook with the children. Any innovative methods you come up with share them with your friends on whatsApp.
The present circumstances are temporary (even more temporary if we stay put), and when they are over, those of us who have used this time to create, mend, build, dream, clear, heal, will hit the pavement running and be ahead of all the others who may still have enough toilet paper, but have nothing to show for this enormous gift of time karuna bestowed.
If you want to practice yoga online, here is what our Yoga teacher Sainathan’s message.
Weekly schedule:
Sunday 7 - 8.15 AM ET
Tuesday 6 - 6.30 AM ET
Thursday 6 - 6.30 AM ET
If you are new to yoga or have not attended classes with Sainathan in the past, Tuesday and Thursday classes will take sometime to catch up as the focus is to practice than to teach or correct. as he won't be able to see you to correct either. He generally does not recommend online classes unless you are familiar with what he teaches. Also, health conditions, age and ability to practice certain asanas matters as well. Here is what Sainathan would recommend: Start watching few classes, focus on warm-up, pranayama and slowly add more to the list. Once social gathering related conditions change, Sainathan will revert back to teaching Sunday AM classes at Chinmaya Niketan from 7.30 - 8.45 AM.

3/15/2020: Fear of the spread of Coronavirus, predominates conversations and is making headlines in the print as well as social media. News of countries shutting down their borders, the impact on businesses worldwide is causing concern across all cross-sections of society. Against this background, I request you all to remain calm. To members of those centres that have had to suspend classes for a while, the advice is to please continue with your sadhana at home. Take advantage of any of the e-learning options that the Mission has to offer. There is no cause for panic, but please exercise caution and follow all the guidelines being put out by the governments of our respective countries. In addition to all the physical measures being taken to eradicate the virus, we request members in Chinmaya Mission to daily chant – Hanuman Chalisa and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah... for the good health of everyone and the restoration of world peace. It may not be understood by all, but prayers do have a mystical power of their own. |
3/12/2020: Per our CMW President Swami Shantanandaji, in light of the focus of state, federal and local governments to limit the spread of COVID-19, all Centers have been asked to suspend all Bala Vihar sessions until further notice.
