ADAMS: A Flowering Tree
Robert Spano, conductor
James Alexander, stage director
Jessica Rivera, soprano
Russell Thomas, tenor
Eric Owens, bass-baritone
An ancient south Indian folktale comes to life with the Theater of a Concert premiere of A Flowering Tree! Famed American composer John Adams’s newest opera follows the story of a young, impoverished girl — with the ability to transform into a flowering tree — who learns true love and wisdom are often gained only through sacrifice and trial. With a captivating storyline and luminous score, A Flowering Tree is “alive with innocence and magic” (The New York Times) and is a season-ending performance not to be missed!
