On January 21, 2023 (Saturday), Literature and Arts of Atlanta, an Atlanta-based literary organization focused on the social needs and entertainment of South Asian communities, will perform a "Broadway Quality" Urdu Stage Play at Eagle Theater in Sugarhill. The play is called "Full Plate in Atlanta". This is the 2nd of its kind; the first was "Half Plate in Atlanta", which was performed in October 2021 and was a huge success.
The play has 10 actors and is expected to be 80 minutes long. All performers, Writers, Directors, and Producers are local community members. Other community members have pitched in as volunteers to make this event a success. The play store is about an Urdu language poet who migrated to Atlanta with his family and was later forced to start a restaurant to support his family. There is a lot of comedy in the play but it also has a serious message as to how immigrants remember and miss their countries of origin and try to keep their heritage, culture, and language alive.
M. Inamullah is the writer & producer of the play. M. Inamullah is also the lead role in the play as Mirza and Sadaf Farooqui is Begum Mirza (Shakira) along with Dr. Shahid Rafique as Mr. Butt, Dr. Ashar Niazi as Manzoor (Older Son) Navidita as Dhulan (Daughter in Law) Shahid Ali as Sagheer (younger son), Azhar Farooqui as Abdul (Servent) Fazleen Sohani as Durdana, Deepti Sharma as Tamanna Kaleem (Mirza's students) and Nighat as Husan Ara.
