In recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage month, the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA) will hold its signature Annual Gala on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The event will feature Ivan Fong, SVP, Legal Affairs and General Counsel of 3M Company, as the keynote speaker and Audrey Boone Tillman, EVP and General Counsel of AFLAC, as GC Diversity Champion. Lisa E. Chang, formerly County Attorney and Chief Legal Officer for DeKalb County, is slated to receive the Judge Alvin T. Wong Pioneer Award. WABE reporter Elly Yu will emcee the event.

“Since its founding in 1993, GAPABA has supported the growth and advancement of Asian Pacific American lawyers in Georgia,” said the Hon. Carla Wong McMillian, President of GAPABA. “As our members continue to forge ahead, breaking new ground in law firms, corporations, non-profits, and public service, our annual Gala presents the opportunity for us to recognize and honor our members, sponsors, and friends in the community.”

The event will include dinner, a program of awards and presentations, and a private VIP reception for general counsels and higher level sponsors. GAPABA expects over 30 general counsels from Fortune 1000 companies, as well as judges and other elected officials in attendance. Again this year, GAPABA will separately offer a Rainmakers Forum, exclusive to GAPABA Gala sponsors, to discuss why retaining and promoting diverse talent is good for business.

A portion of the funds raised will benefit the GAPABA Law Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides charitable and educational services for Georgia’s Asian Pacific American legal community.
