Indian pediatrician searching for bone marrow donor

Dr. Hurikadale Sundaresh spent four decades as a beloved pediatrician in Cleveland, OH. He currently battling High Risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and is in need of a lifesaving marrow donation.

Sundaresh retired from pediatrics in early 2017 and was enjoying life and spending time with his family. Less than six months into his retirement, he started feeling symptoms of fatigue and knew something wasn’t right. In June he was diagnosed with High Risk MDS, which he will need a marrow transplant to treat.

Sundaresh and his family learned that were no donor matches for him on the Be The Match Registry® or on any registries in India. As a result, he and his family are raising awareness about the need for more marrow donors to sign up. Because marrow matches are based on ethnicity, Sundaresh and other searching patients with Indian heritage are much more likely to find a donor from someone of the same ethnic background.

If you are interested in sharing this important story, please do. More people of Indian descent are needed to join the registry.
Additionally, if you would like to share this story on your social channels, feel free to use the attached image as well as this link for people to join the registry: https://join.bethematch.org/Sundaresh
