Exploring Identity: Art and the Artist |
|
Shreya Mehta – an award-winning fine artist who explores, in her vibrant and varied works, the social issues of identity, gender, power and spirituality. Born in India, raised in Belgium, and now living in New York, Ms. Mehta brings a global perspective, creating both representational and abstract works, defying categorization through constant & energetic change.
Sarasvathy TK – known for her hyper-realistic paintings of Indian food. Her art originates from a love for the cuisine, and she feels excited and privileged to share it with a global audience of art and food connoisseurs. The detailing in her paintings bridges the distance with the viewer psychologically, and creates an intimate engagement on multiple levels, beyond the visuals.

Raj Shahani – board member, IAAC will chair the conversation with the artists. He is an entrepreneur turned sculptor based in New York and Bombay. Mr. Shahani uses sculpture as a means to memory sometimes where subjects are captured in photography but at times not. He views sculpting as a form of personal conversance with one’s own interiority. |
