Memorial Service for Swami Yogeshananda
to be held online via Zoom on Saturday, March 13th at 11am
Beloved Swami Yogeshanandaji, the founder of this Center, left the body on the morning of Saturday, February 13th. His passing was peaceful and uneventful, surrounded by loved ones and brother monks in his room at the Trabuco Monastery in Southern California.
We will hold a Memorial Service for the Swami on Saturday, March 13th, from 11am to 12:30pm. (Our regular Saturday morning class will be suspended for that week.) The Zoom link for this will be posted during the week before our memorial. After the formal part of the service, all who wish to share their memories of the Swami will have that opportunity.
Many of you knew the Swami well, and enjoyed years of spiritual life and growth with him. Please share your fondest memories of him with us. Email a copy of your favorite picture of Yogeshanandaji to info @ vedantaatlanta .org and/or a story or two about how he affected your life. We will include these contributions on Memorials for the Swami on the Center’s website and Facebook page.
COVID-19 UPDATE
Your Center's Chapel (the building closest to the parking lot) is open for private meditation, and to visit the self-serve Bookshop. Otherwise, your Center remains closed to visitors due to the coronavirus. Thank you for helping us keep our congregation, friends, and residents of the Center safe and healthy. Do join us online for classes, talks, discussion and the sweetness of continuing fellowship that is such a balm during this challenging time of great transition.

Holy Mother's Helping Hands, your Center’s annual effort to provide food and warm clothing for the less fortunate, is ongoing during the winter months. Our Food Drive is in cooperation with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This year we will NOT be collecting food here at the Center. Instead, you may support this effort with a monetary donation here: https://tinyurl.com/y9ozyadd
With regard to your donations of warm winter clothing, there is a clothes rack on the Monastery sunporch. As we have done every year, the gifts you leave with us will be passed on to a local church. They have a large “clothes closet,” and invite the homeless to drop by and find things they like and need.
This Sunday Open Forum on Meditation with Tom Carr
March 7, 11am to 12noon
March is a month for the study of Raja Yoga, often called the yoga of meditation. As a raja yogi, you use ancient, proven spiritual techniques to quiet your mind and gain control of your attention. Regular daily practice of Raja Yoga increases your ability to concentrate, and may lead to meditation. This can unite you with the Divine Presence, the source of your being, and liberate you from the cycle of rebirth and death. Raja yogis call this state of liberation kaivalya — independence.
This will be an open ended discussion about our actual experience in meditation. It will not be about theory or what we have read. It will be about what we have experienced.
We will break it down into these topics:
What are you doing in meditation?
What happens?
What problems are you having?
I'm really looking forward to this discussion.
