Join us for a very special and uplifting evening where we will usher in 2019 with the blessing of Divine Mother in her form as the warrior goddess Durga!
The evening begins with a pot luck dinner - vegetarian only please!
Then we will perform a community abhishekam, a water ceremony in which a bronze statue (murti) of the goddess is bathed and the participants are purified and strengthened for the challenges that we will face in the coming year. As attendees take turns pouring water over the image of the goddess, everyone will be chanting mantras and kirtans dedicated to Durga. The puja will last about 3 hours (8:30 to 11:30) and attendees are welcome to come in and leave at any time.
During the puja, chants will be led by the North GA Kirtan All-Stars, featuring the original lineup of Blue Spirit Wheel (Ian Boccio, Stephanie Francesca Kohler and Jeffrey Lidke), Narayani (Robyn DesRoches Meek, Don Martin and Stan Holt), Gershone Hendelberg, Lindsey Sita Mann and Jai Ram Lentine! After midnight, Margo Gomes will help us integrate the energies from the puja with healing sound immersion of Himalayan singing bowls and gong.
Donations gratefully accepted.
