In this time of heightened tensions, after 9/11 and anti-immigrant rhetoric, stereotyping, and scrutiny of police actions, some communities such as various Muslim groups are reaching out to the mainstream and to the police to increase trust. Here is an opportunity to show that South Asians are loyal Americans, an opportunity to break negative stereotypes and increase trust with the police and others.
