Republic Day Celebrations + Kite Flying
Republic Day Celebrations + Kite Flying
Public · Hosted by India Club at Georgia Tech
Every year on the 26th of January, Indians all over the world join together in commemorating the signing of the Indian constitution in 1950. This event marked the creation of the largest democracy in the world and established India as a leading independent world power.
This Friday, join the Indian community of Georgia Tech at Tech Green and the Amphitheatre near Ferst Center as we celebrate India’s 69th Republic Day with an afternoon of kite flying. Don’t worry if you’ve never flown kites before, because we have experienced professionals to help you out!
Following the kite flying, there will be a short flag hoisting ceremony featuring a speech by the honorable Consul General of India in Atlanta, Nagesh Singh and Prof. Umakishore Ramachandran. You will also be able to enjoy live music and an open mic, along with light snacks and piping hot chai!
