"Road after Refuge" Closing Reception

"Road after Refuge" Closing Reception
Public · Hosted by International Rescue Committee Atlanta

The IRC in Atlanta invites the community to join us on the evening of Thursday, December 7, for the closing reception of Road after Refuge. Currently on display at The Emory Center for Ethics, Road after Refuge is a collaborative body of artwork produced by 17 young refugees living in Metro Atlanta. These paintings represent the strength and resilience needed to begin a new life in a new country, reflecting the artists’ experiences in both their home countries from which they were forced to flee and in the United States. The artworks were produced as part of the IRC in Atlanta’s Youth Futures Summer Enrichment program and will be sold through silent auction at the closing reception. All proceeds from the auction will go to support the IRC in Atlanta’s youth programs.
“My country inspired my painting. I miss my country. There are horrible things and good things happening. My painting describes so much pain, love, suffering and unity.” – Pierrette Barge
Please join us to view the collection, bid on original artworks, meet the artists and celebrate these inspirational young people and their achievements. Light refreshments will be provided.
