Drawing on themes of loving-kindness and peace across religious traditions and nations, the program will feature two significant musical works: Indian-American composer Reena Esmail’s This Love Between Us: Prayers for Unity, and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Chichester Psalms is sung in Hebrew and This Love Between Us incorporates seven languages and texts, itself a union set simultaneously in English and in its original language.
In the above 1.5-minute video, our Artistic Director Eric Nelson talks a little more about “This Love Between Us”, the featured piece on our program. The piece contains texts from the seven major religions of India, both in their original language and translated into English. Each of these religions has at their heart the “golden rule”: to treat others as you would like to be treated.
Plan to join us for this evening of sacred music with a global flair!
