Swarganga: Crescendo, North Indian Music Competition
The SwarGanga Music Foundation is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its fourth annual crescendo this year.
Crescendo is a North Indian classical music competition for the residents of United States and Canada that celebrates the artistic styles of North Indian classic music and dance.
This is a versatile competition that allows the competitor to compete in different age groups as well as different categories. The age groups consist of 15 and younger, 15-25, and 25 years old or more.
The participant can compete in any category including vocal, instrumental, Tabla, Semi classical (Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Hori, Bhajan, Jhoola etc), and dance (Kathak).
The competition will consist of 5 different stages. Round 1 and Round 2 will be online submissions that allow the competitor to submit a video of up to 8 minutes in length. Round 1 video submissions may be submitted from January 1st, 2014 through March 31st, 2014. Round 2 video submissions may be submitted from April 1st, 2014 to April 30th, 2014.
We will be traveling to Arizona, New Jersey, and Tampa this year for semi-finals. Venues and dates TBA.
The mega-final will be held live in Atlanta, Georgia on September 13, 2014.
Competitors will compete against each other for the chance to win a commercial CD release as well as cash prizes worth over $2500.
