"What Deserves My Attention?"
Speaker: Br. Shankara
We start each day with the best of intentions, and often – by the end of that day – we can hardly say where the time went. What happened? The short answer is we got distracted: In the moment, something else seemed more important than what we intended; or, an incident occurred that left us feeling angry, dejected, worn out. Either way, the day is gone and we’re not much closer to our goal than we were in the morning.
Must this continue? Is there nothing we can do to make better use of our time and attention?
In this talk, Brother Shankara discusses how and why we get distracted, frustrated and confused, and what we can do to live each day more calmly and effectively.
Note: There is silent meditation in the Chapel from 10:30-11am, before each Sunday’s talk. After the talk, devotees and friends meet in the Monastery from noon to 1:30pm, for tea, coffee, snacks and a continuation of our spiritual fellowship. Please join us!
"Sri Ramakrishna’s Non-Dual Bhakti"
w/ Br. Shankara

This non-dual vision of bhakti yoga and other examples of the Master’s path of Pure Love will be discussed in this talk.
January 17th @ 11am
"God, Evil, and the Cow’s Udder"
w/ John Schlenck
We will listen to a recording of this wonderful talk John gave one year ago, nine days before he left the body.
Why does evil exist in God’s universe? Probably most of us wrestle with this question some time or other. If God is the source of evil, how can we worship him/her? Better not to have anything to do with such a God. On the other hand, when the going gets tough we feel the need for a helping hand. The divine Self within seems to be an abstraction. To whom can we pray? Some answers to ponder are given during this talk.
