Vedanta Center of Atlanta July Events

Dear Devotees and Friends,

Here are a few important announcements:

Your Vedanta Center will remain closed* for the month of July. When and how we will reopen for public gatherings will depend on guidance from the C.D.C., and other medical and scientific experts. We will be in close communication with the M.D.s who are part of our congregation, who will help us understand what the experts are recommending. And, we will keep you informed about what we are doing, and why.

— Br. Shankara

* The Chapel is open for evening arati and private meditation, following hand washing/sanitizing and physical distancing guidelines as listed below.

Bulletin and Appeal: Swami Yogeshanandaji at Trabuco Monastery

Swami YThe Swami is getting weaker, slower and more satvik (tranquil). He has difficulty recognizing people, and a devotee reads him his e-mails, but he still enjoys ice cream and chocolate.

The monastery requests our help with the expense of Swami’s care, which is considerable.

Your donation check should be made payable to Vedanta Society of Southern California. Write in the memo, "For Sw Y's care"

Donations should not be mailed to the monastery's physical address, but to their P.O. Box:

Swami Dhyanayogananada
P.O. Box 408
Trabuco Canyon  CA  92678

with Gareth Young

Join us via Zoom at:
https://tinyurl.com/y7veshzt

The Anapanasati Sutta is a simple but profound teaching from the Pali Canon of Buddhism, which are widely read in the Buddhist world. It is believed to describe the practice that Buddha himself was using at the time of his enlightenment. Gareth will provide an overview of the teaching and its core elements, will draw out universal practices, and will talk about how he uses this practice in his own life.

Gareth Young is a husband, father, businessman, and Buddhist practitioner. He has been with Red Clay Sangha since its founding, and has formally studied in both the Insight and Zen traditions. His practice is informed by many threads of Buddhism and by the spiritual practices of other faiths. His approach to practice is intentionally inclusive, open and welcoming.
