"Yatra" film re Dr. YSR

YATRA is a tribute to the unrelenting and undying spirit of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy (aka YSR). Dr. YSR is one of the most popular and charismatic leaders of Andhra Pradesh.  Most of the movie will be centered around the iconic “pada yatra” undertaken in April 2003. Andhra Pradesh was going through a tough phase – power issues, drought situation everywhere, farmers suicides, rampant unemployment etc.  YSR crisscrossed the state for more than 60 days in scorching summer heat to understand the plight of citizens. YSR single handedly against all odds brought Congress back to power in Andhra Pradesh in 2004. His “pada yatra” played a pivotal role in Congress party winning the mandate in Andhra Pradesh. Political pundits attribute a lot of credit to the 2004 Congress win at the center to the 29 MP seats YSR won in Andhra Pradesh.
