Jagruti Solanki named chief financial officer of BitPay

Jagruti Solanki, former assurance partner at Atlanta accounting firm Aprio, was named CFO of cryptocurrency payment company BitPay, one of the largest providers of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency payment services. A nationally recognized subject matter expert on blockchain, she provides companies with insights, best practices, and pitfalls related to blockchain accounting, audit, tax, regulatory, valuation, and cyber risk considerations.

Piranavaskanthan Abeyakaran, Anish Rajeev, Nikita Jha, and Anish Jain won the 2020 Congressional App Challenge for Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District. Announced by Rep. Lucy McBath, the first place winner (“Legal AI”) was created by Piranavaskanthan Abeyakaran from Dunwoody High School.

Kiran Ahuja appointed to Biden transition team

Kiran Ahuja, who grew up in Savannah, Georgia, has been named member of the Joe Biden presidential transition team. Ahuja will support all transition efforts related to the Office of Personnel Management. She has been made head of the team that will deal with the U.S. federal administration’s human resources agency, the federal office for investigations into civil service, and the protection of whistleblowers.

Atlanta resident Dr. Usha Anand has been awarded “The Teaching Faculty Hospitalist for the Year.” She won the honor from the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she works as a physician and team lead for the hospital’s Emergency Covid-19 Surge Plan. It’s dedicated to getting the hospital prepared for the onslaught of Covid-19 patients.

Notable global thinker and Padma Bhushan Awardee Jagdish Sheth has accepted that IFIM Business School in Bangalore be renamed in his name as the Jagdish Sheth School of Management.This is one of the rare instances where an institution is being named to honor a globally renowned Indian academic and is not based on any endowment or grant.
