Atlantic Delight: Pilot Episode Showcased

Atlantic Delight, a low-budget, independent production made under the banner of Innovisions and directed by Umashankar, was showcased at the Global Mall on September 20.

The 24-minute pilot episode, shot in one weekend, was a sincere effort at producing the first of a series that will "target various simple yet complicated issues of life," informed Umashankar. The protagonist, Shital, is a girl of strong convictions, one who could stand up to pressures that most young adults face growing up. Pressures particularly telling when it's time to step into the working world. Building resumes, mock interviews, and job searches can be quite the ordeal even for the energetic youth. Sounds like a familiar story. A story that most of us can relate to...Right?

Described as a "dramady," the series is intended to be a blend of drama and comedy that follows the protagonist's journey through life and delves into her experiences. Atlantic Delight has a young cast of Atlanta-based actors and is backed by a committed production team.

Manoj Balraj, the executive producer, introduced Atlantic Delight and its team, to the spectators. A Q&A with Umashankar followed post-screening. Umashankar, an MBA in international business, left the corporate environment and chose to follow his dreams. In the last three years he has produced three commercials and a short film besides being involved in the production of Teen Deewarein, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. His dreams appear to be finally taking shape in the form of the Atlantic Delight. The screening of the pilot episode was primarily aimed at attracting outside investment as it awaits approval for television. He informed the audience about the submission of the pilot in the form of a short film to various film festivals, and of the optimism of the team looking ahead.

With visible enthusiasm and commitment from those behind Atlantic Delight, this independent production has the potential of becoming something delightful, this side of the Atlantic. For more information on the production, visit www.atlanticdelight.com.
