Gujarati Samaj Celebrates Diwali And The 25th Anniversary of Sardar Patel Bhavan
The 2025 Diwali Celebration will be remembered as one of the finest and most memorable events presented by Gujarati Samaj of Atlanta in the past 25 years.
The Sardar Patel Bhavan looked magnificent. At the entrance, a beautifully designed rangoli welcomed everyone, while the murti of Lord Ganesha, adorned with fresh flowers, radiated divine charm. A lively photo booth provided guests with a perfect spot to capture cheerful moments with loved ones against a colorful, themed backdrop.
Outside, a charming traditional hut had been built, where a drummer played rhythmic beats that brought back memories of village life. Ramjibhai Desai, dressed as a Rabari in a multicolored Rajasthani outfit and turban, looked absolutely delightful. Guests joyfully took pictures with him near a creatively designed well, reminiscent of rural India.

The evening officially began with traditional appetizers— Gota, Gathiya, Marcha, and Kadhi. Distinguished guests Consul General Ramesh Babu and Professor Jagdish Sheth lit the ceremonial diya, marking an auspicious start to the celebration.
Gujarati Samaj of Atlanta came together to celebrate Diwali with many cultural performances.
This was followed by a serene Ganesh Stuti and a graceful solo dance by Mrs. Pallaviben on “Ram Aayenge.” Immediately after, the award for the best high school graduate student was presented to recognize and inspire the next generations of Gujaratis.
A very special moment followed when Professor Sheth and CG Ramesh Babu presented plaques and turbans to all past and present presidents of Gujarati Samaj, including Mr. Vinubhai Kaswala. Recognition was also extended to Mrs. Savla of Nritya Natya, along with 11 other outstanding community members, for their service and dedication.
The cultural highlight of the evening was a stunning 30-minute performance, “Ranglo and Ranglee,” featuring about 20 talented young women in dazzling sarees, led by Sheel. Their breathtaking choreography, set to rhythmic garba beats and vibrant lighting, captivated the audience and brought everyone to their feet.
Children were delighted to receive fireworks to take home and enjoy with their families.
