Kannadigas Celebrate Sankranthi

Nrupathunga Kannada Koota celebrated Sankranthi festival on Saturday, January 22 at the Hindu Temple of Atlanta. A two hour cultural program entertained the enthusiastic audience.

Nearly 30 Children of the Koota participated in the program, which opened with an invocation followed by Pushpanjali dance. A Bharatha natyam recital was performed to the music of a Purandara Dasa Keerthane. Children under the age of 6 performed a Suggi dance depicting the dedication of farmers and their toil in the field.

A skit "Kamalammana Call Center" humorously telling the story of a startup of a call center in India was hilarious. Bhavagethe concert by Dr. Aruna and his daughter Janani were well received. A sumptuous dinner was arranged.

Kannada Koota collected $5000 towards Tsunami relief and rehabilitation fund.
