Sai Health Fair
The 14th SAI Health Fair, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 5080, Lake City, Georgia, was held at the Hindu Temple of Atlanta on September 29th. The Health Fair was a tribute to war veterans and to the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event was spearheaded by Macon-Atlanta physician, and a Board Member of the Gandhi Foundation of USA, Dr. Sujatha Reddy.
Over 250 people, including elderly and disabled, from all over Atlanta availed themselves of the free consultancy and test services provided by 28 dedicated physicians, 12 nurses, and technicians. Blood tests, EKGs, glaucoma screenings, audiogram hearing screenings, preventive Cardiology tests, and Bone Density tests to detect osteoporosis were provided free of charge. Nutritionist Reecha Ravula provided information on exercise, hypertension etc.
Dr.Pooja Mehta, Cardiology Fellow from Emory University School of Medicine, along with medical students carried out cardiovascular risk assessments. Audiogram tests were conducted by Sridhar Krishnamurthy from Alabama, glaucoma screenings were done by Dr. Indira Menon from the Eye physicians and surgeons and bone-density tests were performed by Madhusudhana Reddy, Ms. Sneha Mehta, under the supervision of Dr. Sujatha Reddy.
Several comprehensive blood profile tests were conducted at $15 per test by Medical Center of Middle Georgia Lab. JoAnn Tucker, president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary, Post 5080 said, "We feel honored and blessed to participate in the SAI Health Fair."
Dr. Sujatha Reddy thanked The Hindu Temple of Atlanta, Ramada Inn and Larry Jones of Forest Pharmaceutical Corporation. Cure the patient today and protect the community tomorrow, is the motto and with the free health screenings, the SAI Health Fair has proven itself as an exemplary service outreach program.
